Deionized water chillers

Deionized water is one of the most aggressive solvents known, and corrodes many metals including copper. However, even copper-free cooling systems have purity limits of >0.5 µS/cm to avoid the dissolution of deposits, which may impair functionality. The benefit of using deionized water, also known as de-mineralized water, is that it addresses two phenomena that may occur when normal, untreated water is used. First, mineral deposits from dissolved salts and minerals cause fouling, and second, the high conductivity of untreated water impairs system performance. Evaporators and coolers benefit from SWEP brazed plate heat exchangers (BPHEs), with copper brazing or made of 100% stainless steel, depending on the conductivity of the water. End-user applications include lasers, medical equipment, semiconductor manufacturing, laboratory instrumentation, pharmaceutics, cosmetics, food processing, plating, and other chemical processing.
